Tests Details :
MRI Sacro-Iliac Joints is an advanced imaging test that provides detailed images of the sacroiliac (SI) joints, which connect the lower spine to the pelvis. It evaluates bones, joint spaces, cartilage, and surrounding soft tissues.
This scan is highly effective in detecting inflammation (sacroiliitis), early signs of ankylosing spondylitis, joint degeneration, infections, and other abnormalities. MRI is particularly useful for identifying early inflammatory changes that may not be visible on X-rays.
MRI offers excellent soft tissue contrast without the use of ionizing radiation, making it a preferred imaging method for diagnosing and monitoring conditions affecting the sacroiliac joints.
This test is recommended for individuals with:
- Lower back or pelvic pain
- Suspected sacroiliitis
- Morning stiffness or joint pain
- Suspected ankylosing spondylitis
- Limited mobility in lower spine
- Chronic inflammatory conditions
- Unexplained back pain
