Tests Details :
CT / USG – Guided FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology) is a diagnostic procedure used to collect cells from a suspicious lump, mass, or lesion using a thin needle. The procedure is performed under imaging guidance using Computed Tomography (CT) or Ultrasound (USG) to ensure accurate needle placement.
Imaging guidance is especially useful for lesions located deep within the body or in areas that are difficult to access. It improves precision, reduces risk to surrounding tissues, and increases diagnostic accuracy.
The collected cellular material is examined under a microscope by a pathologist to determine the nature of the lesion, such as infection, inflammation, benign growth, or malignancy.
FNAC is less invasive compared to core biopsy, usually performed under local anesthesia, and requires minimal recovery time. It is widely used for evaluating lesions in organs such as the thyroid, lymph nodes, liver, lungs, and soft tissues.
The purpose of CT/USG Guided FNAC is to obtain cellular material for diagnosis.
It helps to:
- Diagnose tumors or cancer
- Identify infections or inflammatory conditions
- Evaluate suspicious lumps or masses
- Differentiate between benign and malignant lesions
- Guide further diagnostic or treatment decisions
