Tests Details :
CT – Neck is a diagnostic imaging procedure that uses computed tomography (CT) to obtain detailed cross-sectional images of the neck region. This includes the throat (pharynx and larynx), thyroid gland, salivary glands, lymph nodes, blood vessels, airway, and surrounding soft tissues.
The scan may be performed with or without contrast dye depending on the clinical requirement. Contrast enhances visualization of blood vessels, tumors, infections, and inflammatory conditions, improving diagnostic accuracy.
CT Neck is commonly used to evaluate swelling, lumps, infections, tumors, trauma, or unexplained pain in the neck. It is also useful in assessing airway obstruction and staging of cancers in the head and neck region.
The procedure is quick, non-invasive, and provides high-resolution images that assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
This test is recommended for individuals with symptoms or conditions affecting the neck.
It is advised in the following cases:
- Neck swelling or lump
- Persistent neck pain
- Difficulty swallowing or breathing
- Suspected tumors or infections
- Enlarged lymph nodes
- Trauma or injury to the neck
- Follow-up evaluation of known conditions
