CT – Marking is a specialized imaging-guided procedure used to precisely identify and mark the location of a lesion, tumor, or abnormal area within the body. This is typically performed prior to surgical intervention, biopsy, or radiation therapy to ensure accurate targeting.
Using computed tomography (CT) guidance, the radiologist pinpoints the exact location of the area of interest. The site is then marked either on the skin surface or internally using a marker, dye, or needle, depending on the clinical requirement.
CT Marking is especially useful for lesions that are small, deep-seated, or not easily palpable. It improves accuracy during procedures, minimizes tissue damage, and enhances treatment outcomes.
The procedure is minimally invasive, usually performed under local anesthesia, and is commonly used in cases involving lung nodules, soft tissue lesions, or pre-operative localization.
The purpose of CT Marking is to accurately localize a target area for medical procedures.
It helps to:
- Precisely locate lesions or tumors
- Guide surgical or biopsy procedures
- Improve accuracy of radiotherapy planning
- Reduce procedural risks
- Assist in targeting deep or non-palpable lesions
- Enhance treatment outcomes
