Tests Details :
CT – Chest / Thorax is a diagnostic imaging procedure that uses computed tomography (CT) to obtain high-resolution cross-sectional images of the chest region. This includes the lungs, heart, major blood vessels, airways, ribs, and surrounding soft tissues.
The scan may be performed with or without contrast dye depending on the clinical requirement. Contrast enhances visualization of blood vessels, tumors, infections, and inflammatory conditions, improving diagnostic accuracy.
CT Chest is widely used to detect conditions such as lung infections (including pneumonia and tuberculosis), tumors, lung nodules, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary embolism, and other chest abnormalities. It is also useful for evaluating trauma, monitoring disease progression, and assessing response to treatment.
The procedure is quick, non-invasive, and provides detailed images that aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
This test is recommended for individuals with symptoms or conditions affecting the chest.
It is advised in the following cases:
- Persistent cough or breathing difficulty
- Chest pain or tightness
- Suspected lung infection or tuberculosis
- Abnormal chest X-ray findings
- Suspected tumors or lung nodules
- Trauma or injury to the chest
- Follow-up evaluation of known lung conditions
