The Urine Osmolality test evaluates the concentration of dissolved particles such as salts and waste products in urine. It provides important information about the body’s hydration status and the kidney’s ability to regulate water balance.

This test is commonly used to assess conditions related to fluid imbalance, dehydration, or overhydration. It also helps in diagnosing disorders affecting the kidneys and hormones that control water balance, such as antidiuretic hormone (ADH).

Urine osmolality is often interpreted alongside blood osmolality and other kidney function tests to get a comprehensive understanding of fluid and electrolyte balance. Abnormal results may indicate dehydration, kidney dysfunction, or certain endocrine disorders.

The purpose of the Urine Osmolality test is to:
