The Typhoid (Rapid) test is a fast screening test used to detect antibodies (IgM and/or IgG) against Salmonella typhi, the bacteria responsible for typhoid fever. It provides quick results and is commonly used for early diagnosis, especially in patients with fever of unknown origin.

This test is useful for initial screening, allowing doctors to start timely treatment while awaiting confirmatory tests if needed.

The test detects specific antibodies produced by the immune system in response to Salmonella typhi infection.

• IgM antibodies indicate recent or active infection
• IgG antibodies indicate past or ongoing infection

Results are usually available quickly, making it suitable for rapid clinical decision-making.
