The Triglycerides – Fluid test measures the concentration of triglycerides in body fluids such as pleural, peritoneal (ascitic), or other collected fluids.

This test is particularly useful in diagnosing chylous effusions, where lymphatic fluid rich in triglycerides accumulates in body cavities. Elevated triglyceride levels in fluid may indicate lymphatic obstruction, trauma, malignancy, or infection.

It is often performed alongside other fluid analysis tests such as protein, glucose, and cell count to determine the underlying cause of fluid accumulation
