Tests Details :

The Treadmill Test (TMT), also known as a Stress Test, is a diagnostic procedure used to assess how the heart performs under physical stress. During the test, the patient walks on a treadmill while the speed and incline are gradually increased, simulating exercise.

Electrodes are placed on the chest to continuously monitor the heart’s electrical activity (ECG), along with heart rate and blood pressure. This helps evaluate how well the heart responds to increased demand for oxygen during physical exertion.

TMT is commonly used to detect coronary artery disease (CAD), exercise-induced arrhythmias, and reduced blood supply to the heart (ischemia). It is also useful for assessing exercise tolerance, evaluating the effectiveness of cardiac treatment, and determining fitness for physical activity.

The test is supervised by trained medical professionals and is stopped if any symptoms such as chest pain, dizziness, or abnormal readings occur. It is a safe and widely used test for cardiac evaluation.

This test is recommended for individuals with symptoms or risk factors related to heart disease.

It is advised in the following cases:

  • Chest pain or discomfort during activity
  • Shortness of breath on exertion
  • Suspected coronary artery disease
  • Evaluation of known heart conditions
  • Abnormal ECG findings
  • Pre-employment or fitness assessment
  • Monitoring response to cardiac treatment
