These enzymes are essential for proper nerve and muscle function, as they break down acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. This test is mainly used to detect and monitor exposure to organophosphate compounds (OPC) and carbamate pesticides, which can inhibit cholinesterase activity and cause poisoning. It also helps evaluate liver function since the liver produces these enzymes
