The Pleural Fluid ADA (Adenosine Deaminase) test is used to measure the level of ADA enzyme in pleural fluid, which is the fluid collected from the space around the lungs (pleural cavity).
Elevated ADA levels in pleural fluid are commonly associated with tuberculosis (TB) of the pleura, making this test an important tool in the diagnosis of tuberculous pleuritis. However, increased levels may also be seen in other conditions such as infections, inflammatory diseases, or malignancies.
