MRI - Brachial Plexus
MRI of the brachial plexus is a non-invasive imaging test used to evaluate the network of nerves supplying the shoulder, arm, and hand.
MRI – Brachial Plexus is an advanced imaging procedure that provides detailed visualization of the brachial plexus, a complex network of nerves that originate from the cervical spine and control movement and sensation in the shoulder, arm, and hand. It also evaluates surrounding structures such as muscles, blood vessels, and soft tissues.
This scan is highly effective in detecting nerve injuries, inflammation, tumors, nerve compression, fibrosis, and traumatic damage. It is commonly recommended for patients experiencing symptoms like arm weakness, numbness, tingling, pain, or loss of function, especially following trauma or accidents.
MRI offers excellent soft tissue contrast, allowing precise assessment of nerve pathways and surrounding structures. It plays a crucial role in diagnosing conditions such as brachial plexopathy, nerve root avulsion, thoracic outlet syndrome, and tumors affecting the nerve bundle.
The procedure is safe, painless, and does not involve radiation. It may be performed with or without contrast depending on clinical needs.
