The Mitochondrial Antibody (AMA), IFA test is a diagnostic blood test that detects antibodies directed against mitochondria, the energy-producing structures within cells. These antibodies are strongly associated with autoimmune liver conditions, especially primary biliary cholangitis (PBC).

This test uses the Immunofluorescence Assay (IFA) method to identify the presence of anti-mitochondrial antibodies in the blood. It is commonly used when liver function tests are abnormal or when symptoms suggest autoimmune liver disease.
