The Lyme Disease Antibodies test is a diagnostic blood test that detects IgG and IgM antibodies produced in response to infection by Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacterium that causes Lyme disease. This infection is typically transmitted through the bite of infected ticks.

The test helps in identifying both recent and past infections. IgM antibodies indicate a recent or early-stage infection, while IgG antibodies suggest a later stage or past exposure.

This test is recommended for individuals who have:

• History of tick bite
• Skin rash (especially bull’s-eye rash)
• Fever, fatigue, or body aches
• Joint pain or swelling
• Neurological symptoms like numbness or tingling
• Suspected Lyme disease

Doctors may also recommend this test when symptoms persist after possible exposure to tick-infested areas.
