The Lipoprotein (a) [Lp(a)] Test is a blood test that measures the level of lipoprotein (a), a type of cholesterol particle in the blood. Lp(a) is similar to LDL (“bad cholesterol”) but contains an additional protein called apolipoprotein (a).
