HSV I ANTIBODY IGG Test

The HSV I Antibody IgG test detects IgG antibodies against Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1) in the blood. HSV-1 commonly causes oral herpes, including cold sores around the mouth, but it can also cause genital infection.

IgG antibodies usually develop after exposure to the virus and may remain detectable for a long time. Therefore, a positive HSV-1 IgG result generally indicates previous or established exposure to HSV-1.
