The Hepatitis C Virus Antibody – HCV (CMIA) test is a blood test used to screen for exposure to the Hepatitis C virus (HCV). It uses Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immunoassay (CMIA) technology to detect antibodies produced by the immune system in response to HCV.

A reactive or positive HCV antibody result indicates that the person has been exposed to HCV at some point. However, it does not confirm that the virus is currently present, because antibodies can remain detectable even after the infection has cleared.
