The GAD Antibody Test is a blood test used to detect antibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD), an enzyme found in pancreatic beta cells. The presence of these antibodies indicates an autoimmune response where the body attacks insulin-producing cells.
This test is commonly used to help diagnose Type 1 diabetes and latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA).
