FECAL CALPROTECTIN Test

The Fecal Calprotectin test measures the level of calprotectin, a protein released by certain white blood cells (neutrophils), in a stool sample. Increased calprotectin levels can indicate inflammation in the intestines.

The test is commonly used to help differentiate inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, from non-inflammatory conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
