The C. difficile Toxin A & B and GDH test is a stool test used to detect toxins A and B along with glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) antigen produced by Clostridium difficile bacteria. This test helps diagnose C. difficile infection (CDI), a common cause of antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
It is especially useful for identifying infections in patients with persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain, or recent antibiotic use. Early detection helps in prompt treatment and prevents complications.
The purpose of this test is to:
