The APTT Mixing Studies Test is a specialized follow-up test performed when the APTT (Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time) is prolonged. In this test, the patient’s plasma is mixed with normal plasma to determine the cause of the clotting abnormality.

If the clotting time corrects after mixing, it suggests a clotting factor deficiency. If it does not correct, it may indicate the presence of inhibitors such as lupus anticoagulant.

The APTT Mixing Studies Test is performed to:

  • Investigate prolonged APTT results

  • Differentiate between factor deficiency and inhibitors

  • Detect lupus anticoagulant

  • Evaluate unexplained bleeding disorders

  • Support accurate diagnosis of coagulation abnormalities

Tests Prepration :

Consult your doctor. Fasting: Not required Medications: Inform your doctor about blood thinners or anticoagulants Hydration: Maintain normal fluid intake Special Instructions: Usually done after an abnormal APTT result.
