The Anti-Thrombin III Test is a blood test that evaluates the amount and function of antithrombin, a natural anticoagulant protein in the body. Antithrombin helps control blood clotting by inhibiting clotting factors. Low levels or reduced activity may increase the risk of excessive blood clot formation.

This test is recommended to:

  • Evaluate risk of abnormal blood clotting (thrombosis)
  • Diagnose antithrombin deficiency (inherited or acquired)
  • Investigate unexplained or recurrent blood clots
  • Assess clotting disorders in high-risk patients
  • Monitor patients undergoing anticoagulant therapy

Tests Prepration :

Consult your doctor. Inform your doctor about blood thinners (anticoagulants) and other medications. Maintain normal hydration. Special Instructions: Testing may be done when you are not on certain anticoagulant therapies, as advised by your doctor
