Tests Details :
USG – PROSTATE BIOPSY is a specialized diagnostic procedure performed under ultrasound guidance to obtain tissue samples from the prostate gland. The procedure is commonly recommended when there are abnormal prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, suspicious findings on physical examination, or abnormal imaging results suggesting prostate disease.
During the procedure, ultrasound imaging helps the doctor accurately visualize the prostate and guide a biopsy needle to collect multiple small tissue samples. The biopsy is usually performed through the rectum (transrectal approach) or, in some cases, through the skin between the scrotum and anus (transperineal approach).
The collected tissue samples are sent to a laboratory for microscopic examination to identify prostate cancer, inflammation, infection, or other abnormalities. Ultrasound guidance improves precision and helps ensure accurate sampling of suspicious areas.
This procedure plays an important role in early diagnosis and treatment planning for prostate conditions.
