Tests Details :
USG – NT SCAN (SINGLE) is an important prenatal ultrasound examination usually performed between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy for women carrying a single fetus. The scan primarily measures the nuchal translucency (NT), which is the fluid-filled space at the back of the baby’s neck.
Increased NT thickness may be associated with chromosomal abnormalities such as Down syndrome, congenital heart defects, or other genetic conditions. Along with NT measurement, the scan also evaluates fetal heartbeat, growth, anatomy, nasal bone, and overall early fetal development.
This examination forms an important part of first-trimester prenatal screening and helps doctors assess the risk of certain fetal abnormalities. Depending on the findings, additional screening or diagnostic tests may be recommended.
The procedure is safe, painless, and uses ultrasound imaging without radiation exposure.
This scan is performed to:
- Measure nuchal translucency in the fetus
- Assess the risk of chromosomal abnormalities
- Evaluate early fetal growth and development
- Confirm fetal heartbeat and viability
- Assess nasal bone and other early markers
- Support first-trimester prenatal screening
- Help identify pregnancies requiring further evaluation
