Tests Details :
USG – CRANIUM / NEUROSONOGRAM / USG SPINE is a specialized pediatric ultrasound examination performed primarily in newborns and young infants to assess the brain and spinal structures using high-frequency sound waves.
The neurosonogram or cranial ultrasound evaluates the brain through the infant’s fontanelle (soft spot on the head), allowing visualization of brain structures, ventricles, bleeding, hydrocephalus, cysts, infections, or congenital abnormalities.
The spine ultrasound component evaluates the spinal cord, spinal canal, vertebrae, and surrounding soft tissues. It helps detect conditions such as tethered cord syndrome, spina bifida, spinal cysts, lipomas, fluid collections, or other spinal developmental abnormalities.
This examination is safe, painless, radiation-free, and provides real-time imaging that supports early diagnosis and treatment planning in infants with suspected neurological or spinal conditions.
This scan is performed to:
- Evaluate brain structures in infants
- Detect bleeding, hydrocephalus, or brain abnormalities
- Assess the spinal cord and spinal canal
