Tests Details :
USG – AFI WITH DOPPLER is a specialized obstetric ultrasound examination performed to evaluate amniotic fluid volume and fetal circulation during pregnancy. The scan combines AFI (Amniotic Fluid Index) assessment with Doppler ultrasound imaging for a more comprehensive evaluation of fetal well-being.
The AFI component measures the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby, which is important for normal fetal growth and development. Abnormal fluid levels may indicate conditions such as oligohydramnios (low fluid) or polyhydramnios (excess fluid).
The Doppler study evaluates blood flow in important maternal and fetal blood vessels, including the umbilical artery, uterine arteries, and fetal circulation. This helps determine whether the fetus is receiving adequate oxygen and nutrients through the placenta.
This scan is commonly recommended in high-risk pregnancies, pregnancies with fetal growth concerns, hypertension, diabetes, reduced fetal movements, or suspected placental insufficiency. It helps doctors monitor fetal health and guide pregnancy management and delivery planning.
This scan is performed to:
- Measure amniotic fluid levels during pregnancy
- Assess fetal blood flow using Doppler imaging
- Monitor placental circulation and fetal well-being
- Detect low or excessive amniotic fluid levels
- Evaluate high-risk pregnancies
- Assess fetal growth restriction or placental insufficiency
- Support pregnancy monitoring and delivery planning
