The Testosterone – Total (Serum) test is a blood test used to measure the total amount of testosterone, the primary male sex hormone, present in the bloodstream. It includes both bound and free forms of testosterone.

Testosterone plays a key role in the development of male reproductive tissues, muscle mass, bone density, and sexual function. In females, it is present in smaller amounts and contributes to overall hormonal balance.

Abnormal testosterone levels may indicate conditions such as hypogonadism, infertility, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), adrenal disorders, or other hormonal imbalances.

This test is often used alongside other hormone tests to evaluate endocrine function and reproductive health.
