Tests Details :
MRI – Multiparametric Study of Prostate (mpMRI) is an advanced imaging technique that combines multiple MRI sequences—such as T2-weighted imaging, diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), and dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) imaging—to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the prostate gland.
This scan is highly effective in detecting, localizing, and characterizing prostate cancer, as well as differentiating between aggressive and non-aggressive tumors. It is also useful in assessing benign conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostatitis.
Multiparametric MRI plays a crucial role in guiding targeted biopsies, staging prostate cancer, planning treatment, and monitoring patients under active surveillance. It provides detailed anatomical and functional information, improving diagnostic accuracy and reducing unnecessary procedures.
The procedure is non-invasive, safe, and does not involve radiation. In many cases, contrast material is used to enhance imaging and improve detection of abnormal areas.
The purpose of this MRI – Multiparametric Study of Prostate test is to:
- Detect and localize prostate cancer
- Differentiate between aggressive and non-aggressive tumors
- Evaluate prostate enlargement (BPH) or inflammation
- Guide targeted prostate biopsy
- Assist in staging and treatment planning
- Monitor patients under active surveillance
