Tests Details :
MRI – Brain + IAM / IAC (Internal Auditory Meatus / Internal Auditory Canal) is an advanced imaging procedure that combines detailed brain MRI with focused evaluation of the internal auditory canals and surrounding structures.
This scan is particularly useful for assessing the cranial nerves related to hearing and balance, especially the vestibulocochlear nerve (8th cranial nerve). It helps detect conditions such as acoustic neuroma (vestibular schwannoma), nerve compression, inner ear abnormalities, tumors, inflammation, and other pathologies affecting hearing and balance.
MRI provides high-resolution images of the brain, inner ear, and auditory pathways, making it highly effective in diagnosing causes of hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo, and facial nerve disorders. It may be performed with or without contrast depending on clinical requirements.
The procedure is safe, non-invasive, and does not involve radiation, making it suitable for detailed neurological and auditory evaluation.
This test is recommended for individuals:
- Experiencing hearing loss or tinnitus
- With dizziness or vertigo
- Suspected of acoustic neuroma or nerve-related disorders
- Having balance issues
- With facial nerve symptoms
- Requiring detailed brain and auditory evaluation
Available Exclusively at these Prima Diagnostics Centres: Jayanagar, Whitefield, and Yelahanka
