Tests Details :
MRI – Axilla is an advanced imaging procedure that provides detailed visualization of the axillary (underarm) region, including lymph nodes, fat, muscles, blood vessels, and surrounding soft tissues. It uses magnetic fields and radio waves to generate high-resolution images for accurate diagnosis.
This scan is highly effective in detecting enlarged or abnormal lymph nodes, infections, inflammation, tumors, and metastatic disease (such as spread from breast cancer). It is commonly used in the evaluation and staging of cancers, especially breast cancer, as well as in patients with unexplained swelling or masses in the axillary region.
MRI offers excellent soft tissue contrast, allowing precise assessment of lymph node characteristics and surrounding structures. It is often recommended when ultrasound or CT findings are inconclusive or when detailed evaluation is required.
The procedure is safe, painless, and does not involve radiation. It may be performed with or without contrast depending on clinical requirements.
This test is recommended for individuals:
- With enlarged or painful lymph nodes in the underarm
- Suspected of breast cancer spread
- With unexplained swelling or lumps in the axilla
- Requiring cancer staging or follow-up
- With abnormal findings on ultrasound or CT
- Requiring detailed soft tissue evaluation
