Tests Details :
MRI – Aortic Angiography with Contrast is a specialized imaging procedure that focuses on detailed evaluation of the aorta—the main artery carrying blood from the heart to the rest of the body—using contrast-enhanced MRI techniques. It provides high-resolution images of the aorta and its major branches, including thoracic and abdominal segments.
The use of contrast material (gadolinium-based) enhances visualization of blood flow and helps detect abnormalities such as aneurysms, dissections, narrowing (stenosis), blockages, and vascular malformations. It is particularly useful in diagnosing life-threatening conditions like aortic aneurysm or dissection.
This scan also helps assess surrounding structures and provides valuable information for surgical planning, monitoring vascular diseases, and evaluating treatment outcomes. It is commonly recommended for patients with chest pain, back pain, hypertension, or suspected vascular disorders.
The procedure is non-invasive, safe, and does not involve radiation, though it includes contrast administration.
This test is recommended for individuals:
- Suspected of aortic aneurysm or dissection
- Experiencing unexplained chest or back pain
- With uncontrolled hypertension
- Having vascular abnormalities detected on other tests
- Requiring pre-surgical vascular evaluation
- Undergoing follow-up for aortic conditions
