Tests Details :
MRI – Ankle Joint is an advanced imaging procedure that provides detailed visualization of the ankle joint, including bones, ligaments, tendons, cartilage, and surrounding soft tissues. It uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce high-resolution images for accurate diagnosis.
This scan is highly effective in detecting ligament injuries (such as sprains or tears), tendon damage (including Achilles tendon issues), cartilage injuries, bone fractures, joint inflammation, infections, and soft tissue abnormalities. It is commonly recommended for patients experiencing ankle pain, swelling, instability, or limited movement.
MRI offers excellent soft tissue contrast, making it particularly useful when X-rays or other imaging tests do not clearly identify the cause of symptoms. It plays a key role in diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring recovery, especially in sports-related injuries.
The procedure is safe, painless, and does not involve radiation.
This test is recommended for individuals:
- Experiencing persistent ankle pain or swelling
- With suspected ligament or tendon injuries
- Having difficulty in walking or ankle movement
- With sports-related ankle injuries
- Suspected of fractures or joint abnormalities
- Requiring detailed evaluation of the ankle joint
