FibroScan (transient elastography) is a quick, painless scan of the liver. A small probe is placed on the skin over the liver, and the machine measures how stiff the liver is and how much fat is in it. There are no needles and no radiation, and it usually takes 10–15 minutes.
Liver stiffness can be a sign of scarring (fibrosis), and the fat reading helps check for fatty liver. Doctors use FibroScan to check liver health and to follow changes over time, often instead of a liver biopsy.
FibroScan is done only after a consultation. Book here and our team will call you to fix your appointment and tell you how to prepare. Usually you should not eat for about 3 hours before the scan.
