Tests Details :
CT – Renal Angiography is a specialized imaging procedure that uses computed tomography (CT) along with contrast dye to obtain detailed images of the renal arteries and veins supplying the kidneys.
During the procedure, a contrast agent is injected into a vein, which enhances the visibility of the kidney blood vessels on CT images. This allows accurate evaluation of blood flow and identification of abnormalities such as narrowing (renal artery stenosis), blockages, aneurysms, or vascular malformations.
The scan produces high-resolution cross-sectional and 3D images, making it highly effective in diagnosing vascular conditions affecting the kidneys. It is also useful in planning surgical or interventional procedures, including kidney transplantation and vascular treatments.
CT Renal Angiography is commonly used in patients with high blood pressure suspected to be caused by renal artery narrowing, kidney function abnormalities, or vascular disorders.
This test is recommended for individuals with suspected vascular conditions affecting the kidneys.
It is advised in the following cases:
- Uncontrolled or secondary hypertension
- Suspected renal artery stenosis
- Kidney function abnormalities
- Pre-surgical evaluation (e.g., transplant planning)
- Vascular abnormalities of kidneys
- Follow-up evaluation after treatment
