Tests Details :
CT – Orbit is a specialized imaging procedure that uses computed tomography (CT) to obtain high-resolution cross-sectional images of the eye sockets (orbits) and surrounding structures. This includes the eyeballs, optic nerves, extraocular muscles, bones of the orbit, and adjacent sinuses.
The scan may be performed with or without contrast dye, depending on the clinical requirement. Contrast enhances visualization of soft tissues, blood vessels, and abnormal lesions.
CT Orbit is commonly used to evaluate trauma (such as orbital fractures), infections, tumors, foreign bodies, and conditions affecting the optic nerve or eye muscles. It is also useful in assessing causes of eye pain, swelling, vision problems, or abnormal eye movements.
The procedure is quick, non-invasive, and provides detailed images that assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
This test is recommended for individuals with symptoms or conditions affecting the eye or orbit.
It is advised in the following cases:
- Eye injury or trauma
- Swelling or pain around the eyes
- Vision disturbances or loss
- Suspected orbital tumors or infections
- Foreign body in the eye
- Abnormal eye movements
- Follow-up evaluation of known conditions
