Tests Details :
CT CV Junction (Craniovertebral Junction) is a specialized imaging study used to assess the region where the skull base meets the upper cervical spine (C1 and C2 vertebrae). This area is critical for supporting the head and protecting vital neural structures.
The scan provides detailed cross-sectional images of bones and surrounding structures, helping in the diagnosis of congenital abnormalities, fractures, dislocations, infections, tumors, and degenerative conditions affecting the craniovertebral junction.
CT imaging is particularly valuable in trauma cases and in evaluating conditions that may affect stability or alignment in this region. In certain cases, contrast may be used to enhance visualization of soft tissues.
This test is recommended for individuals with:
- Neck pain or stiffness
- Head or neck trauma
- Suspected craniovertebral abnormalities
- Neurological symptoms like weakness or numbness
- Limited neck movement
- Suspected tumors or infections in the upper spine
- Congenital spinal conditions
